Joe Lueken begins his 10th season as the head trainer for the Indiana soccer program and his 12th overall at IU. Former head coach Jerry Yeagley repeatedly praised Lueken for his work in keeping the IU regulars on the field and not on the injured list.
Lueken has served as an athletic trainer at Indiana for the past nine years and also has worked with the track and field, football and baseball teams. In addition, he is an instructor and teaches within the curriculum of the athletic training programs.
Lueken previously served as an athletic trainer for the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs. He was responsible for team preparation, practice and competitive coverage for various teams, international travel and administrative responsibilities for the Sports Medicine clinic.
Lueken earned a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports sciences from Indiana in 1987 and a master's from Arizona in 1990. He currently serves on the board of directors from the USOC's Sports Medicine Society and the Diabetes Youth Foundation. He and his wife, Pam, are the parents of two daughters, Mckenzie and Abbie. The family resides in Bloomington. |
